A School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT) allows students to complete part of their HSC while gaining real workplace experience and working toward a nationally recognised qualification. SBATs combine school, paid work, and training, helping students build practical skills and start their career pathway early.
An SBAT is a great opportunity for students to explore an industry they are interested in while still at school. Students can gain valuable hands-on experience, earn an income, and develop workplace skills that will help them transition into full-time employment or further study after school.
Benefits of an SBAT include:
Earning while learning
Completing part of your HSC
Gaining a nationally recognised qualification
Building real workplace experience
Developing confidence and employability skills
Exploring future career pathways early
Creating connections with local employers
