How Does GTO Work?
A Group Training Organisation (GTO) helps connect apprentices and trainees with businesses looking to grow their workforce. A GTO employs the apprentice or trainee directly and places them with a host business where they complete their on-the-job training and gain valuable industry experience.
As the legal employer, the GTO manages important employment responsibilities such as payroll, workers' compensation, leave, and training arrangements. The host business provides the day-to-day supervision and hands-on workplace experience, while the GTO offers ongoing support to both the employee and the business throughout the apprenticeship or traineeship.
How a GTO works:
The GTO recruits and employs the apprentice or trainee
The apprentice or trainee is placed with a host business
The host business provides practical workplace training
The GTO manages employment and training administration
Field Officers provide ongoing mentoring and support
The apprentice or trainee works toward a nationally recognised qualification
Why businesses and employees choose a GTO:
Ongoing support throughout the apprenticeship or traineeship
Assistance in managing training and compliance requirements
Reduced administration for businesses
Access to recruitment and workforce support
Mentoring and wellbeing support for apprentices and trainees
Flexible workforce solutions for businesses
At GTES, we are committed to supporting apprentices, trainees, host businesses, schools, and the wider community by creating positive employment and training opportunities across the region.
