⭐️ STAR APPRENTICE AT INLAND TRUCK CENTRE ⭐️

Ewen (34), has started his apprenticeship as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic in early October this year with Inland Truck Centre.

Ewen is excited for the opportunity that our Host Employer has given him as he was in the Army for 14 years.

Inland Truck Centre are a family owned and operated business and has been the choice regional Kenworth Dealer for over 40 years.

⭐️ STAR APPRENTICE AT WAGGA WAGGA CITY COUNCIL ⭐️

Tegan Muirhead is a second year heavy vehicle mechanic with GTES and is hosted by Wagga City Council. Tegan is pictured servicing a JCB Telehandler at the Wagga City Council mechanical workshop. Tegan is doing very well in a mostly male dominated trade and loving it. Tegan says to other women thinking about entering a trade “Just get in and do it!” “Don’t let stereotypes hold you back and if it makes you happy go for it”. Wagga City Council provide an equal opportunity workplace without gender bias, and workshop manager Paul Wallace says he is happy to have Tegan who works very well and is a valued member of the team.

⭐️ START APPRENTICE AT BILL HORNE CARPENTRY ⭐️

Edward Evans is employed as an apprentice carpenter through GTES and hosted by Bill Horne Carpentry at Boorowa. Edward gets a diverse variety of carpentry tasks throughout the area working with Billy and thoroughly enjoys his work. ⭐️ STAR TRAINEE AT HILLTOPS COUNCIL⭐

Tim Porritt is a mature aged trainee employed by GTES and working with host employer Hilltops Council at Boorowa, Tim was looking for a career change and is now doing a horticulture course. Tim said he is glad to have the chance to change direction in life and have the opportunity. Tim has become a valued member of the team at Boorowa.

⭐️ STAR TRAINEE AT HILLTOPS COUNCIL⭐

Nicholas Barrass is a GTES trainee with the Hilltops Council in Young. Nicholas has been employed through GTES since early this year and is progressing well, he is pictured here watering the garden at Anderson Park in Young. Nicholas who did a horticulture course at High School really enjoys his work and is grateful that he has been able to continue his studies and pursue his passion with Hilltops Council.

⭐ STAR APPRENTICE AT BOMEN SOLAR FARM ⭐

⭐️ STAR APPRENTICE AT ETA MECHANICAL SOLUTIONS (VIC) ⭐

Jack Dalton is a 3rd year apprentice Mobile Plant Technology apprentice who works for ETA Mechanical Solutions Pty Ltd at Wallan Victoria. Supervisor Glen says that Jack is doing extremely well and exceeding expectations. As can be seen by the photo, Jack really enjoys his job at ETA.
ETA are a long time host with GTES and have had 5 apprentices through us. Two of the apprentices have received GATA apprentice of the year award.

⭐️ STAR APPRENTICE AT CJD EQUIPMENT (VIC) ️⭐️

Congratulations to Louis Rametta who is completing his Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology this week. Louis, who has become a skilled mechanic has progressed very well with his trade, works for CJD Equipment in Campbellfield Victoria. Louis is pictures working on one of the large machines in the CJD workshop. Louis said; “To the people at GTES, I appreciate all the guidance and care I received throughout my four years, from Rob signing me up to John finalising my paperwork and everyone in between I wouldn’t be where I am today without you” “GTES has been an amazing employer, I’ve never felt alone, and help was always a phone call away” CJD Equipment, Founded in 1974, is a privately owned Australian company whose core business involves the National Distribution of construction equipment and trucks. CJD are a regular employer of apprentices and are an excellent host.

⭐️ STAR APPRENTICE AT NIXONS ENGINEERING ⭐️

P️ictured is apprentice Dean Collins. Dean is a 39 year old mature age 3rd year apprentice Fitter Machinist at Nixons Engineering in Wagga. Dean was looking at a career change after years of working as a Senior Manager in his previous role. Dean decided he wanted a change, so he made the decision to do a complete career change! Dean always had an interest in things mechanical and an opportunity for a position arose at Nixons as an apprentice Fitter Machinist. This was a huge consideration for Dean to give up his senior management job to go back to basics as a new apprentice. While worried that his age might have been an obstacle, he applied for a position and was successful in gaining the job. Dean is progressing very well in his apprenticeship and has become a valued member of the Nixons team. Dean say’s “I really enjoy the work at Nixons and the added learning from TAFE. Nixons provided me with a great opportunity, they have a very diverse range of work and they utilise a great range of equipment to develop my skills, the equipment at Nixons is very specialised and some of the state of the art equipment is not readily available in most engineering workshops.”

⭐️STAR TRAINEE AT COMMONWEALTH BANK⭐

WOWZA! What another proud weekend it was for GTES! Our very own School-Based Trainee, Kesha Loughrey was a finalist for the Western Region 2019 NSW Training Awards for School Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year! Amanda Hooper, (GTES), Matthew Rix and Amanda McCabe (Commonwealth Bank), Malcolm Banks (Goodooga Central School) and Kesha’s family made the trip to Orange to take it all in and cheer on our little star! Although she didn’t win this award, she’s still a winner in our eyes!
