Course Details

Over four days of face-to-face classroom learning, you'll study three units of competency:

  • CHCECE056 - Work effectively in children's education and care

  • HLTWHS001 - Participate in workplace health and safety

  • HLTWHS006 - Manage personal stressors in the work environment

These units count as credit transfers if you go on to study the full CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

How the program work

The program runs across three stages in March 2026, starting with classroom learning and building into real work experience.

  • Stage 1 - Classroom Learning (compulsory) Monday 16th to Thursday 19th March, 8:30am for a 9:00am start, finishing at 2:30pm each day. This includes an industry bus tour on Tuesday 17th March so you can experience a childcare setting firsthand.

  • Stage 2 - Work Placement (compulsory, minimum 4 days) Monday 23rd to Friday 27th March. Put what you've learned into practice in a real childcare environment.

  • Stage 3 - Online Training Support (optional) Monday 30th March to Friday 3rd April. Additional online support to help you wrap up your learning.

 

*Eligibility

To take part, you need to be:

  • 15 years or older and no longer at school

  • Living or working in NSW

  • An Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen

  • If you're 18 or older, you'll need a current Volunteer Working with Children Check

All learners are also required to complete national mandatory child safety training before attending a regulated childcare service. You'll need access to a laptop or device for any online study.
